On March 23rd I woke up very, very early. Which is highly unusual for me! It was still dark out. You know there has GOT to be a good reason as to why on God’s green earth I would have done that, right?! Well there was!

I was invited to Kraft Canada headquarters with a dozen or so other social media influencers to celebrate their launch on Twitter, to talk about their future endeavors in the social media world and to enjoy a day with food!

What could be better than to tweet and eat?!!

I didn’t expect it would take over 3 hours to get from my home to my final destination, which according to Mapquest… was only an hour and 15 min drive! #dumbsnowstorm Around 6 inches fell that night… good thing I had a car and driver!!

Thanks Kraft Canada, I really appreciated it!!

Don’t you love my personalized apron! I use my Twitter handle as my contact info more than ever!

After mixing and mingling and eating breakfast together, we had a informational meeting with M. Bianco, the President of Kraft Canada. He told us that they are committed to the Three No’s! No artificial colour, flavour, preservatives. Change takes time but it is coming!

Did you know that 99% of households have a product that is made by Kraft in them?!

We then strapped on our feed bags!! {Pictured above is their Homemade Fruity Marshmallows which I finally bought all the ingredients for to make} They toured us around their facility, where their creations were concocted, tested and tested again and finally revealed.

Angel Lush Cupcakes were created by taking their ultra popular Lush Cake recipe and tweaking it for cupcakes. Their Lush Cake was on the cover of their Spring 2006 “What’s Cooking” magazine. I know… I made it! SERIOUS YUM!

Did you know that when you cook with less sodium… you allow more of the other flavours to come out? The better tasting homemade minestrone soup {above} was the one without all the added salt, it was much tastier.

http://maijasmommymoments.com/

After the taste testing tour, we got to let our inner chefs out. While mine is still deep inside… some of the other bloggers were serious foodies, cook from scratch food bloggers and even recipe book authors. I like food. I eat food. But for the most part, I am not a fan of being a slave to the kitchen.  🙂

At Kraft Canada, there are four regular home-style kitchens  – on this day, three bloggers were put together into each kitchen to make an appetizer, main course and dessert.

http://www.urbanmoms.ca/
Some of us are better at multitasking than others…
http://momstown.ca/
When our food had all been prepared, we came together to have lunch, sampling each others goodies.

My favourite dish of the day had to be the Malabar Coconut Shrimp. It’s the 2nd plate in… Ruth from “Once Upon a Feast” had the pleasure of preparing this, their kitchen smelled divine!

I ate so much that I didn’t even have room enough for dessert! That’s saying a lot!

Did you know that Kraft Food’s roots are Canadian?! It was started by James Lewis Kraft – who was born in 1875 in Stevensville, Ontario. He moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1903 with $65 in his pocket and started a cheese business and the rest as they say… is history!

Cheers to Kraft Canada! Thank you for including me in this special #kraftmyway event!

  10. Recipe for baked Mac and Cheese
    1 pkg kraft dinner
    3 tblsp flour
    3 tblsp butter
    2 c milk
    1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
    extra noodles
2 or 3 c mixed kraft cheeses (any kind as long as one is cheeder.) I use 3 cups cause we like it extra cheesy

open box of kd, take out cheese pack and fill box with extra noodles. boil for 10 min and rinse in cold water

make cheese suace by using kraft cheese pkg, flour butter and paprika (optional). add milk slowly so sauce wont go lumpy. as it starts to thicken, add grated cheese. mix well until it melts. add to cooked macaroni noodles and bake in a greased pan (i use a small roaster) for 20 – 30 min. Serves 4

  16. My fav meal is a Pork tenderloin cut in half lengthwise. I spread Kraft cream cheese with pesto inside and layer peppers and onions. I then close the pork and wrap in proscitto and wrap in tin foil. Put on bbq for 20 minutes on high, serve with steamed asparagus and mashed potatoes, I mash using Kraft herb and garlic cream cheese.

Can you tell I love Kraft?

  20. My favorite dish to make is steak

I tenderize my steaks then place then on tin foil on my broiling pan sprinkle dried onion soup mix on them fold the tin foil up kinda like in a tent peak place them in my oven on 325 and since everyone in my house likes their steak done differently I don't really time them I just keep checking them til each steak is done to each persons preference.
I have also done these on the bbq as well and either way they turn out soo very tender.
Along with the steaks I do potatoes washed and cut up with onion salt and pepper and butter and wrapped in tin foil and cook them on the bbq til the potatoes are tender.
We usually have a salad and crescent rolls with it.

Use any pasta that you'd like; boil it up while sauteing mushrooms and grape tomatoes. Break the asparagus into bite size pieces and steam until fork tender.

Add some pesto sauce and some milk into the pasta and combine in veggies delicately until yummy looking.

I serve this in a bowl sprinkled with fresh shave parmesan and toasted pine nuts!

  178. Honestly, and not just because this is a post for Kraft, my favorite dish to make is a One Pot Curry and Rice Dinner recipe I got out of the Kraft What's Cooking magazine from Fall 2001. It is SO yummy and easy!

  179. One Pot Curry and Rice Dinner:
    1) Mix 1/2 cup Kraft Creamy Cucumber dressing with 1-2 Tbsp curry powder. Pour over meat (a pound should do it for 4) and marinate 10 minutes.

    2) Cook marinated meat, a handful each of chopped celery, green onions and carrots until brown. Pour in 1 can broth then measure 1 can Minute RIce, and bring to a boil.

    3) Remove from heat, stir in handful of add-ins, a handful of nuts (peanuts, cashews, toasted almonds or sunflower seeds) and seasoning (spices). Cover and let stand for 10 minutes.

using the ingredients you have on hand…

    meat + add-in + spices:
    beef + diced apples + 1tsp chili
chicken + dried diced apricots + 2tsp ginger
pork + shredded coconut + 1 tsp cloves
meatless (1 can chick peas, chopped cauliflower) + raisins + 1 tsp hot pepper sauce

From Kraft What's Cooking Magazine, Fall 2001

  270. My favorite dish to make is chicken in the red sauce, my boys love it!
    lulus.pals@gmail.com

  271. My chicken recipe:
This is so easy. Pre-heat your oven to 350 degree F.
In a roasting pan, or a deep dish pan with a cover, put 4 to 6 pieces of rinsed boneless chicken on the bottom.

In a large bowl or measuring cup add the following:

    1/2 cup of brown sugar
    2 cups of ketchup
    1 cup of water

Stir it really well and pour the mixture over the chicken. Cover and place in the oven and cook for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. (even a bit longer turned down, it won't hurt it at all. Just baste the chicken with the sauce occasionally.)
Take it out and voila, supper is cooked! As a tasty side dish, try some brown rice or potatoes and lots of veggies. Trust me, it is really good and the chicken is so tender it just falls apart! Enjoy!

  279. Very Veggie Mac and Cheese

My husband calls this a "next day" dinner. It's so good, you will want to have it again, the next day! This is a great way to get kids to eat veggies without realizing it.

    16 oz box Organic Macaroni
    2 tsp butter
1 cup low fat sour cream
2 cups mixed grated Canadian cheese
1 large tomato seeded and chopped
1 spaghetti squash cooked and shredded
1 cooked breast of chicken (optional)

    Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add a pinch of salt and 450g of organic Macaroni and boil for 8 minutes. Stir a few times to ensure the pasta doesn't stick together. Drain. Return to pot and add butter and mix to coat. Add grated cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, squash, chicken and mix thoroughly to distribute evenly.

Pour into an oven proof casserole dish, cover with lid or foil and bake in oven for 35 minutes.

Tip: Cook the squash the night before while you eat dinner, then scrape it and refrigerate it.
