I am Canadian!

I love being a Canadian!

I love being a Canadian living in Canada!

We Canadians are known for our politeness. You will often hear us say “Please” and “Thank you” but mostly… you’ll hear us say “Sorry” for just about anything and everything, doesn’t matter if it’s our fault or not.

Don’t even get me started with how we’re known for our maple syrup, winters, bacon, free medical and yes, for saying EH…

We’re also known for our kindness.

It really depends on where you live in Canada but when I lived in British Columbia (the Province next to the Pacific Ocean) letting people merge in front of you while in line to go somewhere in your car was not only encouraged but we’d kindly wave you in and then mouth the words “thank you” and “you’re welcome” at each other.

We like to open doors for one another but not only that, if we forget to keep it open long enough for enough people to walk through…  we often will apologize.

We are known for our generosity.

Statistically Canadians out-give their larger counterparts in the World when it comes to charities and non-profit organizations which is pretty FAN-TAB awesome seeing as the entire population of Canada is less than the population of the State of California.

We’re known for our entrepreneurial spirit and for our inventions although we’re far too polite and humble to boast with you what those are.

As much as we’re known for being caring, peaceful, concerned, and accepting of others… you may be surprised to learn that hockey isn’t our national sport… Lacrosse is! A sport much more violent than it’s ice pad counterpart.

We are fiercely competitive and extremely proud of our nation (but not in your face kind of way).

And best of all… I think we have a great sense of humour, as is demonstrated by all the comedians in the US who originally came from Canada! 🙂

Happy 145th Birthday Canada.
