I married a sportaholic. It shouldn’t be such a shock to me that our children are as in love with sports as their father is. My kids have played Hockey, Soccer, Football, Racquetball and Softball. There’s a hockey net and a basketball net parked in our driveway 24/7 for those impromptu games that bring the neighbourhood together.

Currently, my two oldest are playing on their school’s Volleyball teams, and they’re also each in a local club.  Two to four times a week they are either practicing or playing in tournaments.  My house might as well be a locker room for the smell that emits from their gym bags and running shoes!  You know it’s bad when your fourteen year old son asks for the Lysol Fabric Mist…

With four kids, two of whom need to be driven from one end of the city to the next, things can get a tad crazy around here. Many nights my oldest is only home for 30 minutes between school games and club practice. For those quick, my front door never shuts, moments in the week, you’ll find homemade soup on my stove ready to go. Now that the days are cooler, this warm-the-belly food is much appreciated by all. It’s important for their health to balance healthy foods with a good amount of physical activity.

I’m very glad that getting my kids to be physically active or to eat healthy foods isn’t a chore, it comes naturally to them. It definitely makes life much easier. 🙂

Now if only I could get them to keep their rooms clean….

  1. I will never forget the time around the dinner table when I asked, "Who wants to quit soccer?" Three kids with practices and games all on different days of the week. We never had a moment's peace.
