The countdown has begun!

Only a few more sleeps until my sis Lala is out here with our mom and then we’re off with the ladies from my church for a weekend retreat in one of the most beautiful areas around!!

I’ve written about this trip before but as it gets closer the more and more nervous and excited I get!

Why nervous?

I’ve never planned an official retreat before. The ladies in my church have gone away for a weekend before but it was all of us staying in 2 cabins by a lake – real casual – more like a bunch of friends getting away from our hubby’s and kids for some peace and quiet. Planning is new for me, I am more the “fly by the seat of my pants” type of girl… whatever happens happens.

What’s different this time?

1. Another church is joining us so it’s a bigger crowd.
2. More ladies from my church are going so it’s a bigger crowd.

Not that more ladies isn’t a good thing, it truly is!

More ladies means more chances of offending someone or having someone upset by their room arrangements or trying to find enough spaces in vehicles or making sure everyone has a good time. One of my “weaknesses” is that I am a people pleaser and it is hard to please nearly 30 ladies of all ages from all different backgrounds with all different personalities.

It is stressing me out!

I couldn’t sleep until after 1am last night (then JZ was wide-eyed and ready for playtime at 3am and then my 3 year old, was in my bed at 7am talking to himself and wanting to cuddle). I am exhausted!

Back to the weekend coming up… I have done my best to make sure that the ladies have a good time together, that we have a good teaching time, that we pray together, and that we eat well together and… I have done my best to arrange the sleeping rooms so that not only do people feel comfortable but they also get to know new people.

I just want us to all have a great time!

  1. Shash,

I can say that I kinda know how you feel (the people pleasing!!). I know that you are planning a great time for us. It is going to be so memorable. It is also good for people to be out of their comfort zone occasionaly,(whether they know it or not) because that is how we grow more and more.

We live in a lifestyle of convenience, but we need to remember that it is not always like that (I do listen in service!!). I know for myself, I am learning about getting OUT of my comfort zone. No matter how UNcomfortable it makes me, I know I need to do that in order to grow.

Physically when we grow we have growing pains (my 7yo complains constanly!!), so in order to grow spiritually we will go through growing pains too.

I know that God has placed you in our lives, and us in yours. The weekend is going to be awesome.

You have made such an impact in my life and continue to do so, I am truly looking forward to this weekend.

Jeremiah 17:7 [Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit.

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

    No worries!!!

  2. I hope you have fun on the trip. Don’t stress to much at least your sister and mom will be there with you, for support! Have fun!

  3. hey girl
I got your back, any drama send over to me and explain that at summer camp or conventions or even a hotel and even college dorms you don’t get a choice of room or person next to you and atleast in this case we are all ladies and all family even the other church joining us k.

I know that we are going to have the time of our lives again and that is because I am going to be there jk laughing hard right now

You know the Lord will deal with them, See ya soon
