I was out all day yesterday. It was around midnight when I realized it was Friday and I hadn’t posted my Feature Friday yet! My bad… I know. I still post these things in real time, haven’t gotten the hang of scheduled posts or scheduled tweets for that matter. Maybe I’m old school like that. 🙂

This weeks “Feature Friday” Canadian Superstar started following me on twitter just a couple of months ago, on a Sunday while I was tweeting in church, and I knew instantly we’d be great friends. She has an incredible testimony, fantastic sense of humour, great hair and love for God like I do! 🙂

Please welcome to the stage…
Julie from Sober Julie Doing Life!

I’m a Mom to 2 wonderful little ladies, wife to an amazing man, blogger, speaker, Christ follower who faced my Alcoholism and got fed up and decided to learn how to experience this journey of life fully. I am also recovering from a car accident and often blog about the challenges of dealing with PTSD and physical injuries. With our 2 hilarious girls, a husband, a dog and my wonderful self to blog about, well I cannot promise where this will lead but you’re sure to find Faith, Serenity, Wisdom and Courage.

I asked her a bunch of questions so that you could get to know her a bit better. I encourage you to check out her blog, “Sober Julie Doing Life”

My first question wasn’t really a question… it was more like a Feature Friday qualifier…

Are you a Coffee drinker? How could anyone ever give up alcohol and live without coffee?

Good answer Julie and now onto the real questions!

1. What drew you to blogging?  I was in a car accident in February 2010 and my memory has been compromised. I was frightened and wanted to journal but handwriting doesn’t work for me so I finally decided to blog and fell in love with it immediately.

2. How do you characterize yourself?  Well here is a tough question, to put it simply – I’m a child of God who is humbled by His Grace in my life. I am a proud wife, mother, daughter, speaker, blogger. Determined to live authentically, tattoos and all.

3. What did you want to be when you were little?  Lawyer, that was easy…I would be able to prove everyone wrong and make money. I really wanted a red convertible Jag….still do. lol

4. Are you married? Kids?  God led me to the most amazingly patient man who actually married me. Brave soul. We have two daughters who are 7&5, quirky, fascinating and frustrating all in one breath.

5. If you could have a superpower, what would it be?  Recently I saw a YouTube video where a man is frustrated by people all around him. He then puts on glasses and sees the people as God does. I’d like to have this ability.

6. Favourites:

  • Food – Cheese, old, nippy…it’s an issue lol
  • Colour – Red, bold, rich
  • Movie – There are many but from childhood, 16 Candles
  • Book – The Shack
  • TV show – Coronation Street….a smidge embarrassing but I’ve watched it my whole life
  • Blog – why Shasher’s Life of course {no, I did not pay her to say that! :)}

7. What is your most embarrassing moment? OK seriously? I have hundreds now, getting sober and changing perspectives has gifted me with many. How about doing a pole dance on a column at a wedding after too many drinks?! Lovely.

8. What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?  I’ve been told that people are inspired by my openness, by my honesty with my faith and recovery.  That’s wonderful and humbling. Yes, I’m openly in recovery and happy to talk about it in order to help others but I’m amazed at the number of people who offer support.

9. What playlist / CD is in your CD player / iPod right now?  The last song I played was “Awake O Sleeper” by Ike Ndolo and P!NK, “Perfect”.

10. What is the meaning behind your blog name?  I’m an alcoholic who faced life on God’s terms on Feb. 6, 2010. I’m now committed to journeying Sober with God.

Thank you Julie for being a wonderful participant in my so-called weekly Feature Friday, Canadian style!
