This past May, our family experienced one of those unforgettable moments — my husband and I walked our only daughter down the aisle. Then my husband (her father) officiated over their big day! Surrounded by family and friends, it was a celebration of love, unity, and the promise of a future filled with happiness and togetherness.

From the moment she was born, Emma brought immense joy into our lives. We watched her grow from a curious and spirited child into a compassionate and determined young woman. Each milestone she achieved was a testament to her resilience and the values she held close to her heart. Her journey to marriage was no different, she knew what she wanted and she went after it!

Love stories are inherently distinctive, each with its own characteristics that make it stand out. Our daughter’s romance, however, is a captivating narrative that perfectly encapsulates the charm of a serendipitous swipe-right. (They met on Tinder!)

They connected via Tinder just prior to her graduation from Trinity Western University, in the spring of 2022. She took the opportunity of us flying to BC from Ontario for her graduation ceremony to introduce us to Blake. This was her very first boyfriend, and by their second date, she knew that he was her One and Done!

A year after they met, Swaneset Bay Golf and Country Club booked. It was the perfect venue to celebrate with family and friends from near and far. The beauty of the venue was amplified by the relentless heat that day, none of us were expecting over 33 degrees in mid-May!! (Our youngest, Jake, almost passed out as he stood up front with the other groomsmen.)

Gratefully, the country club’s interior boasted a comforting air-conditioning. Emma and I ignited the room, deviating from convention with our unique Mother-Daughter dance. After sharing kitchen dances post-dinner for 23 years, it felt only right to be her dance partner on that memorable evening.

This day stands out vividly in our memories, marked by love, joy, and connection. Our daughter’s wedding was more than an event; it was a cherished chapter in our family’s journey. We are so very grateful to everyone who contributed, both in the foreground and background, making this celebration truly memorable. Your efforts and presence made a significant difference.
