Yesterday we managed to make it to Ikea to get the cabinets for our kitchen afterall. My hubby looked really uncomfortable. We brought all 4 kids and our border with us to do the heavy lifting. Thank goodness we had a second vehicle! My hubby drove a friend to the airport on Friday morning so we’ve had his car all weekend long. Thanks BL!! It came in handy!

The kitchen isn’t complete – don’t be jumping up and down just quite yet. We picked up only a few base cabinets and it came to $2,400!! (Over $400 was taxes) Yup, not even the counter tops have been ordered yet. That total includes the two cabinets that flank the stove space and the corner unit to the right of the sink and another 18″ drawer cabinet beside the desk area. We decided to stick with the sink we already have sitting in the storage room and make use of the cabinet we bought to go with it back in the spring. We will have to order new doors for it. I wasn’t prepared for it to be that much of a whopper, this is Ikea we’re talking about. The door style we choose is dark brown, kinda chocolate, which I love… but I didn’t realize that it is one of the most expensive door types they have. Yeah, I have my Mom’s taste buds. Needless to say we have a few more Ikea trips to go before we have a complete kitchen. My hubby will be busy for the next little while putting together the units that we do have. Crazy crazy!

I also had my work Christmas party last night and by the time the dinner was served my hubby was done for. We left just after dessert. It was far too busy of a day for him.

Today we have 2 teenaged boys arriving from Japan to stay in our home for the next 6 days. Dad is in West Virginia with his lady friend until Tuesday so it won’t seem so crowded over here. It will be an interesting week to say the least.

Mr and Mrs Redhead’s dad might be able to head home tomorrow from the hospital. He was doing real well, so much so that they told him the actual truth about how close he came to meeting his Creator. Another hour was being 55 minutes too generous! We are very thankful Opa is still with us.
