Are you exhausted from all this partying??!! 😉

It’s day two of the Ultimate Blog Party and it’s been such a blast so far. It’s the only party that I know of that no one gets mad when I show up with a contagious virus!! I’m feeling much better today, not 100% but out of bed and eating real food…

I have a question for you? It was spawned from a movie my hubby and I watched last night. I am a big fan of a lot of areas around this wonderful world. From Hawaii for it’s lush natural beauty and warm daily temperatures to the Alps, the clean air and the crystal clear blue lakes in Switzerland to the gracious cultural encounters with the Japanese – I could choose from a dozen places I’ve been to. If you could choose to live (or just visit for an extended length of time) anywhere on God’s green Earth — where would it be?

I think I’ve finally narrowed it down. When I was a teenager I read a romance series based in Avignon and immediately I wanted to go there. I managed to get to Paris in 1999 with my hubby and 7 month old (first-born) as we back-packed through le Louvre & Notre Dame and I even nursed at the top of the Eiffel Tower but no further into France did we venture. I’m sure God needs a good church planted in Provence, right?!

If you have a chance, rent the movie, “A Good Year” with Russell Crowe, trust me – it will make you fall in love with the most beautiful place on Earth — in my books anyways! We watched this last night and couldn’t stop talking about visiting it one day and maybe just maybe staying…

If they speak Japanese there then I’m in luck… but I wonder if my Grade 12 level Quebecois would get us by with the Parisians???

  2. have fun partying! I want to see that movie, maybe mom and I will rent it, if she hasn’t seen it yet!

of the places I have been I would live in Ireland, but there are so many more places that I want too see, if I could live in a place a year at a time, that would be my dream!

  3. Here via the blog party! I am so glad you signed up — you have such a cute site!

Hope you are enjoying the party! 🙂

  4. Hey Shan
I don’t know where I would live as I haven’t travelled much. The farthest I have been is Florida and Arkansas, not much difference in culture. Vince and I plan on traveling a lot together, so I won’t have an answer for many years to come.

  5. Ah… if I could LIVE any one place or VISIT any one place? Visit would be, well, just about anywhere. I would love to go to anywhere in Asia, explore small villages in Europe and safari in AFrica. Get me on a boat and I’ll sail around the world (but please provide me with men that know how to jig and ho and all that stuff). But to LIVE – as in forever and ever – I would never leave my roots. My family is all around me and I’d never want it any other way.

  6. Thanks for the party invite. Feel better!

  7. I’m coming in from North Idaho to party a little bit.
I’ll check out “A Good Year” and maybe I’ll watch it.

  8. It is a busy weekend with all this partying! So glad that your virus isn’t keeping you “home.” Hope you are ALL better real soon!

I LOVE Hawaii. I know it sounds pretty unoriginal and not very adventurous or romantic – but I just love it there!!!

  9. Wow…I haven’t seen that movie…anywhere in the mountains is my dream. I love it there….I also love what I’ve seen of Tuscany…but I’m not moving that far away.

I am married to a pastor too. We’re together twenty years this summer.

It’s a fun and crazy life, isn’t it??? Have a blessed week…hope you feel better.

    🙂 Susan

  10. I’ve been to France twice and believe part of my soul resides there, too… it’s lovely… but I’ve always longed to visit New Zealand or Australia or someplace like that!

Please be sure to check out my fun Bump! Photo Tag going on! Hope you’d like to play along and post your favorite pregnant belly pic!

  11. Love your blog. Of places I’ve been where we would like to live is Garmisch-Partinkirchen, Germany Stokholm, Sweden or anywhere in Tuscany. But we really dream of living in Asia.
(btw I’m an American living in the UK so moving outside comfort zone is in my blood.)

  12. just saw “a good year” this weekend and LOVED provence. yeah, i could live there. i’d pick maui, but i think i’d get island fever. great party game!

  13. What an awesome Ultimate Blog party! Thanks for stopping by mine.

My husband and I loved the “A Year in Provence” series. Travel is the thing we love doing together the most. I guess that’s one of the reasons we were attracted to each other. He was a Yank and I was a Canuck and we wanted to see each others’ countries! So… we’ve been lots of places already. But where would I like to go next? The Caribbean… St. Lucia, St. Bart’s, Jamaica, Aruba, Bahamas… anywhere HOT!

    Thanks for your hospitality today!
    Hugs ‘n prayers, e-Mom

  14. Hello!! Awesome to “meet” you…thanks for popping by! 🙂 Hmm…tough question, where would I want to live/spend a chunk of time? I’d have to say somewhere down south…like Georgia or S. Carolina. Or more exotic, like Hawaii! Why not? I can dream right?! Have a fantastic day! (cute belly pict!) Blessings…

  15. Another blog partier.

Being an missionary kid, I’ve travelled overseas a lot, but there are still 2 places I MUST go to: Ireland and Australia.

  16. Just dropped by to join the party!

If I could live anywhere it would be Egypt. I’ve always been in awe of the pyramids and the sphinx. I think it would take the rest of my life to truly take in the beauty and to try to develop an understanding of the mysteries therein.

  17. Thanks for stopping by to say “Hi” on my Welcome to the Ultimate Blog Party post. I do appreciate it.

If I could live anywhere…it would be in some small town or village in Ireland, perhaps Killarney where we were married. That was a dream come true and I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures.

Unfortunately, I don’t live there, I’ve only been to Ireland twice in my life. I hope to go again in the near future!

  18. Enjoying the party – I have to agree – Provence is the place to live. I’ve visited 2 times and I absolutely LOVE it.

  19. I’d pick Italy. No, I don’t know any Italian other than food, but there is something captivating about the art, the landscape and of course the people.

If I couldn’t pick Italy, then Ireland is my next choice. I’m of Irish descent and my

  20. Ack! I didn’t finish…

But I think you get that I’m Irish and I’d like to see that land some day.

(Why do I feel like I just spilt my drink all over myself? I’ve got to go now.)

  21. So glad you dropped by Chez Kroeker earlier and left a comment! What fun this party has become–and I was partygoer #800. That was cool. I thought I was going to be 799, but by the time I clicked Mr. Linky, someone else beat me to it. Number 800 is better.

My husband grew up in Belgium and his family’s still there. I wrote a long bit about being in the Midwest and how I long to live elsewhere–almost anywhere–just to experience something different.

Dream locations: Australia, New Zealand. Maybe California. More realistic, maybe someday one of the Carolinas or Georgia. Generally–someplace warmer!

By the way, Mary DeMuth (relevantblog) just moved back having planted a church near Nice (very near where Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline’s characters ended up in the film “French Kiss”). They left it…which I presume means it could use an enthusiastic pastor and delightful wife? Just throwin’ it out there….

  22. And what a party it’s been! Thanks so much for dropping by mine. Congratulations on the milestones with your home. I know you’ll enjoy every moment of it all the sacrifice will have been worth it!

As for the question, my dream would actually be to have the ability to visit ALL the places on this earth!

    Hugs,
