My kids had an absolute blast this past week at One Community Church in Hamilton. This is the second year they’ve put this on but only the first year we’ve been able to attend.

It was perfect timing for me! 🙂

My hubby took our oldest son and 5 others from our church to enjoy the great outdoors in the middle of Algonquin Park for the week. They will be on their way home now, but for the past week they’ve enjoyed nature at it’s finest. Canoeing – portaging – fishing – hiking … you know… guy stuff!

I was wondering what I was going to do with my other three… K, more like the youngest two. Li Li is 7 (8 in six weeks) and Jake is 4 (5 in two weeks) but they are very active boys that need a lot of supervision and attention. Missy, my only princess in the bunch, is 10 and is very responsible but I didn’t want to burden her with having to be their babysitter for the week while I worked.

Yes… if you didn’t know… I work – from home. And as many times that people forget that a WAHM is still as busy as a SAHM but with extra outside people counting on her to get stuff done. This family can survive if the laundry doesn’t get done but I could get fired if a deadline is missed! This past week was month-end and my busiest month-end to date! I had a whack of meetings to get through and things to do for clients that I didn’t know how I was going to juggle all of it. I’m not Wonder Woman!

I came across what our friend’s church was doing (thank goodness for Facebook!) and all the bells and whistles went off!! I could accomplish two things in one move: Kids could have fun and be occupied and I could work. It was a selfish thought at first but ended up being a blessing for each one of us in the end. 🙂

So from Monday to Friday I put well over 700 klms on my vehicle and it was all worth it. Even when I got so sick and fevered that I didn’t think I would see the morning… I managed to muster up enough strength to keep pressing on.

This video captures one of the highlights of the week at One Connect Creative Camp. It’s not the greatest quality, it was recorded on my iPhone. Check out my son, Li Li, he is in the front row, on the far left side. Keep an eye on him towards the end of the song – when it’s the guitar solo time! He’s quiet the character and this week, he was able to SHINE!

Thank You! to the whole entire crew at One Community Church who put this on for their own neighbourhood in Hamilton but allowed this crazy mother of 3 – from a town an hour away – who ended up bringing a whack more kids from her own church – to join in the fun. You are incredible people!!
