It’s hard to believe that a year has gone by already!

On Wednesday we crossed the 52 week mark, today {August 17} marks the official one year anniversary since my father-in-law passed away in our home.  It’s been a year of not only great grief but also great pain.

Things are still not settled. His grave still doesn’t have a headstone and we’re in a legal battle with his new wife who abandoned him in the midst of his sickest point. As the lawyer’s bills keep coming… it’s hard to say good-bye to such a marvelous man when all of this is lingering in the air.

John was the kindest man with the biggest heart and gentlest spirit. In the 15 years he was in my life, I never heard him say a negative word about anyone. He had grace to spare. His memory deserves more than all of this.

I have said many times that I forgive her for what she is doing – I’m waiting for my heart to feel it.  I refuse to let it eat at me any longer.  I opt for peace rather than anger…

Dad, I still have a lot to learn from you.

  2. I'm so, so sorry to hear that all of this drama is taking place. Losing a beloved family member is difficult enough, as I've learned lately – I can't imagine having the double burden of going through what your family is facing. Praying for you.

  3. He sounds like he would have reminded me of my father in law.

And I'm so sorry to hear that there is drama going on, your family doesn't deserve that. Big HUGS to you and your family girly!

  4. What a wonderful sounding father and father-in-law! So sorry to hear what you're going through and hope things get better soon! It's never easy to lose someone, let alone when there's legal issues or difficult people involved. 🙁

  5. hard to believe it has been a year… and what a year eh?

  6. So sorry for your loss. It sounds like you have some wonderful memories of your father in law to hold on to and cherish. I know first hand how difficult it is to have to deal with family drama when what you really need is to grieve and heal. It makes it so much harder to do that.
