The sun wasn’t quite awake when we boarded our flight for The Riviera Maya, in Mexico. Almost 4 hours after leaving behind frigid Toronto temperatures (it was the middle of February), I stepped off the plane and into paradise. The sun felt amazing. I could smell the tropics. I couldn’t wait to get to the hotel, check-in, and get poolside before lunch was served. I’d been practicing “Una Cerveza por favor” all morning long.

To say I was ready for this vacation after 2 years of being stuck in Canada is an understatement.

The front desk attendant asked us if we would like an upgrade to an oceanfront suite, he could swing us a deal. He didn’t need to talk me through it twice, the idea of waking up to the sounds of the ocean, I went for my credit card immediately.

Panic started to set in.

My purse did feel a little lighter than normal…

You could see it in my eyes, the moment I remembered leaving my wallet on the flight, on my seat… several hours before.

Needless to say, calling my banks and credit card companies back in Canada took up most of the afternoon. It wasn’t until we were on our way out of Cancun a week later that we found it, fully intact at airport security.

So why am I telling you this on a blog post titled Welcome Back?!

Did you notice the new domain? It now ends in .ca. If you tried to reach me through my old Shasher’s Life site, I apologize. It’s now a parking lot for online gambling. Don’t look it up, they don’t need any more clicks.

What happened you ask??!

A lost wallet = canceling credit cards = forgetting about auto payments = domain renewals get ignored = loss of my 16-year-old site.

So here I am… starting again. Bookmark this site, I have a lot to tell you! Welcome Back to Shasher’s Life!

Did you get the up grade on your room?

    1. Yes it did stop! But we were able to relax in our upgraded room on the ocean, so that helped.
